    To fulfill your request:

  • You will need to provide your Scotiabank Investment Account number.
  • The name you provide on this Refund Request must exactly match the name as it appears on your Investment Account.
  • You must agree to the Application Disclosure Statement provided below.
  • We recommend printing the confirmation page for your records.

Terms and Conditions

In this Refund Request form, "customer", "you" and "your" mean the Study Permit/Visa applicant; and "we", "our", "us" and "Scotiabank" mean The Bank of Nova Scotia.

  • You confirm that the information you have provided is true and complete.
  • You authorize Scotiabank to send your name, date of birth, passport number and File number to the Canadian Visa Authority in your country for approval of your refund request.
  • You authorize Scotiabank to close any accounts opened on your behalf and refund the funds to the bank account you specify in this Refund Request form.
  • You accept that any fees, exchange related and/or other remittance charges/fees arising from the refund of monies by Scotiabank in Canadian Dollars and conversion in local currency by your bank for deposit in your account are not the responsibility of Scotiabank and will be borne by you.
  • You acknowledge that if you request a refund of your wire (a minimum of $10,200 CAD if you made a deposit before January 1, 2024; or a minimum of $20,835 CAD or $15,278 CAD (in Quebec) if you made a deposit on or after January 1, 2024), your request will cancel your enrollment into the Student GIC program and will close your Scotia Investment account. The cancellation request is subject to the following conditions:
    • If the refund request is made within 14 business days of the date your Scotia Investment Account was opened, you will be refunded $185 CAD of your $200 CAD Scotiabank administration fee in addition to the full amount of your funds transferred (principal plus any accumulated interest). $15 CAD of your $200 CAD Scotiabank fee will not be refunded as these are considered processing fees. Fees associated to the wire sent to your home country as well as any foreign currency exchange fees may also apply and will not be refunded by Scotiabank.
    • If the refund request is made after 14 business days of the date your Scotia Investment Account was opened, you will receive the principal plus any accumulated interest, however the $200 CAD Scotiabank administration fee will not be refunded. Fees associated to the wire sent to your home country as well as any foreign currency exchange fees may also apply and will not be refunded by Scotiabank.
