Security

At Scotiabank, we're committed to keeping your accounts and financial information safe and secure, from the moment you sign on to ScotiaConnect to the time you sign out. As part of this commitment, we have instituted a number of security measures to help ensure the integrity of your transactions and your account information.

128-bit SSL

Industry standard encryption ensures that your information passes between your personal computer and the Bank's computers securely, preventing others from being able to read or tamper with your account activity.

Firewalls and Monitoring

Our firewalls and monitoring systems prevent unauthorized access to our internal systems and maintain the safety of your information.

Timeouts

If you're away from ScotiaConnect for more than 15 minutes an interruption to the ScotiaConnect session occurs. You then need to sign back into ScotiaConnect with your username, password and token.

Time stamp

As an extra level of security protection we display the date and time of your last online visit whenever you login to ScotiaConnect.

Safe Computing Practices

It is important that you take steps to protect your information on your personal computer. ScotiaConnect is a protected environment which meets the highest Internet security standards. While we take strong measures to ensure the security of your financial transactions and the confidentiality of your information, it is extremely important that you also take precautions to ensure that your information remains safe and secure. We advise customers to read about these topics and follow the recommended Safe Computing Practices.
